COVENTRY Buildbase Bees are delighted to confirm that talented Czech youngster Filip Sitera will be joining the team next month.

The 20-year-old rode at Brandon in the recent World Cup round having just returned from a neck injury, and took points off both Simon Stead and Scott Nicholls.

He is likely to slot into the side at reserve, although Bees still have time to assess their options ahead of their re-declaration as they have an eight-day break after Wednesday's re-arranged trip to Lakeside, a match brought forward from August 27.

Sitera is a double Czech Under-19 and Under-21 champion, and is through to this year's World Under-21 Final. He will be a track reserve at this weekend's Czech Grand Prix.

He enjoys backing from a full speedway family - his uncles are former World Finalists Jan and Vaclav Verner, his mechanic/mentor is former international rider Bo Brhel and he has invested heavily in machinery for his Elite League debut, which is set to come at Peterborough on August 7.

Bees chief Allen Trump said: "We met up with Filip the night before the World Cup, although at that stage we were aware there were other clubs interested in him.

"We were fairly optimistic, and then he came up to us after that meeting and said straight away that he wanted to sign - we did the deal in about ten minutes. He's an exciting young rider and we're pleased he's joining us."
