Conference Leagues Mister Entertainment and Welsh Wizard, Tom Brown, landed the spoils in the Nat West Bronze helmet last weekend in a thrilling meeting that had plenty of thrills and spills.  No-one who was there to witness the prestigious meeting could deny that every rider was out there to win – something that the breathtaking racing showed in spades.  However, the meeting was marred by the horrific heat 2 crash between two of the top contenders Sittingbourne's Jerran Hart and Scunthorpe's Byron Bekker.  Both riders took no further part in the meeting with Jerran Hart suffering a fractured pubic ramus and Byron Bekker sustaining a broken collar bone.  Phil Bartlett Weymouth Chairman said, “It was a horrendous crash and all at Weymouth Speedway wish the two riders a speedy and full recovery.  Both Byron and Jerran have provided us with some fantastic entertainment at the Wessex Stadium and I hope to see them both racing again soon.”

Jem Dicken Wildcats Team Manager was disappointed that there was no home winner and commented, “Tom Brown was a deserved winner in the end.  He always gives his all and although he has had some bad meetings here this season, it all came together on Saturday night.  I felt for Jay Herne who was the overall top scorer and was a little unlucky in the final“.

It was a return to League action on Sunday when the Wildcats travelled to Sittingbourne to face the Crusaders.  In an emphatic win the Wildcats climbed the Conference League table with a 31-60 victory over the Kent side.

The Wildcats have a week off from league action this weekend when Weymouth host the South West Fours event with teams representing Weymouth, Exeter, Somerset and Bristol.    The following weekend the Wildcats have a busy time when they entertain the Boston Barracudas at home on Saturday 2nd August then travel to Norfolk for the return leg the following day.

Meeting starts at  7.15pm
