The Redcar Bears face another of the top teams in the Premier League when the Workington Comets visit the South Tees Motorsport Park off South Bank Road, Middlesbrough on Thursday evening. The rider parade is at 7.20 with the first race at 7.30.

However they beat both Champions-elect Sheffield and reigning Premier League Champions the Rye House Rockets at the Motorpark last week and will face another team with a  a star studded heat leader trio with confidence. Top two for the Cumbrian septet are the actual Premier League Pairs Champions Daniel Nermark and Kauko Niemenin - a title they won at the National Finals at Somerset Speedway last month. Nermark is a Swedish international who represented his country in last week's World Team Cup whilst Niemenin is a Finnish international with an outstanding record in his home country. As if that were not enough the third heat leader is former Premier League Riders' Champion Carl Stonehewer. Stonehewer is an all-time Premier League great having competed in the World Championship Grand Prix series whilst remaining a Workington Comet.

For the Bears it has been a case of what might have been but could yet be. American Chris Kerr has returned to the side after months of absence and given instant points support to Bears own heat leader trio of Gary Havelock, James Grieves and Ty Proctor whilst teenager Josh Auty has also been returning heat wins as his contribution.

Redcar were leaving the number six spot open as James Cockle was suffering a transport problem and Benji Compton a motor problem at the time of writing.
