Plymouth are through to the semi-finals of the Conference Knock-Out Cup following an exciting victory over Weymouth at the St Boniface Arena on Friday evening.

The Devils won 51-42 on the night to achieve a seven point aggregate victory over the Wildcats, having trailed by two points from the first leg at Weymouth on June 21.

Plymouth’s victory was achieved without Mark Simmonds, who was away on holiday, and Kyle Hughes although his Premier League fixture for Sheffield at Redcar was postponed.

The Devils relied heavily on skipper Seemond Stephens, Nicki Glanz and Tom Brown. Stephens scored a 15-point maximum and Glanz dropped only one point in six rides when he was beaten by Jay Herne in heat six.

Brown was unbeaten by an opponent in his four programmed rides, but fell in heat 10 on a rider replacement outing for Simmonds.

Plymouth will be at home to Rye House in the cup semi-final next Friday, July 18.

They visit Weymouth in the Conference League on Saturday evening (July 12) with Hughes returning to the side instead of the rider replacement facility for Simmonds.

Plymouth:
Mark Simmonds (rider replacement), Jamie White-Williams 3 (4 rides), Tom Brown 10+3 (6), Nicki Glanz 17 (6), Seemond Stephens 15 (5). Reserves: Danny Stoneman 1+1 (3), Paul Starke 5+2 (6).

Weymouth:
Lee Herne 7 (4), Brendan Johnson 1+1 (3), Luke Priest 3+2 (4), Andrew Bargh 13 (5), Jay Herne 7+1 (5), Reserves: Tim Webster 9+1 (6), Kyle Newman 2+1 (3).
