BSI Speedway, rights holders of the 2008 FIM NordicBet Speedway World Cup (SWC), has announced tickets for the British leg of the 2008 team world championship – that will take place at Brandon Stadium, Coventry, on Monday 14 July - are now on sale.

The good news for British fans is that anyone who purchases a ticket before 04 July 2008 will get 10% off the ticket price!

Great Britain will face Denmark, Sweden and a qualifier in Event 2 as they go all out to qualify for a place in the FIM NordicBet Speedway World Cup Race-Off and Final and be in with a chance to lift the Ove Fundin trophy in Vojens, Denmark.

Coventry’s Brandon Stadium successfully hosted the British leg of the 2007 SWC tournament and with its fantastic hospitality and spectator facilities it is a great venue for British fans to get behind the team on their quest for a gold medal.

Scott Nicholls, Team Great Britain captain, said: “The fans make all the difference in this event.  They really got behind the team last year and motivated us to put in a winning performance at Coventry and hope they will be out in force again.

“The World Cup is a fantastic week of speedway, all of us are proud to ride for our country and are pumped up to ensure that we gain an automatic place in the Final rather than have to go to the all-competitive Race Off.  We have the added advantage that both Chris and I know the Coventry race track well and hope that British speedway will have something to celebrate on 14 July.”

Paul Bellamy, managing director, BSI Speedway, commented: “The World Cup always conjures up fantastic racing and is a great advert for world championship speedway.   There will be a plethora of world class riders at Coventry, including current world champion Nicki Pedersen lining up for Denmark and former Coventry favourite, Andreas Jonsson featuring in the Swedish side.  Great Britain’s Scott Nicholls will also make a welcome return to Brandon Stadium – the home of his previous club – and with all this experience in the teams we should see some terrific racing and it will be a great night out for all speedway fans.”
