Although there was no track action for the Falcons last weekend there was no lack of cycle speedway interest as the 2008 Home International was staged at Great Blakenham on the outskirts of Ipswich.
Drawing similarities with the Scotland Football side, Scotland’s Cycle Speedway Team Manager Gav Kennedy faced the prospect of his first match in charge minus several of his leading starts. Craig Newsome holidays, Mikey Hewitson broken scaphoid, Chris Shylock injured ankle, meant there was call ups for Falcons riders Neil McPherson and 15 year old Jake Slight, with the Team Manager also taking a place.
The Scotland Team found the going extremely tough and a distant last place was always going to be extremely hard to avoid. Top scorer for Scotland was the ever dependable Alan Smith and mention should go to young Jake Slight for grabbing an impressive 2nd place in his last outing.

There has also been a change to the Glasgow Olympique individual meeting which was originally pencilled in for 7th Sep. This will now be run on 17th Aug at Cathkin Park Glasgow. Start time is still to be agreed but we can guarantee that anyone interested in spectating will have plenty time to get to the Glasgow Tigers v Edinburgh Monarchs motor speedway match in Glasgow that afternoon.
