Cycle Speedway (Australia): New influx of junior riders at Salisbury.

As of late , there has been a steady influx of new riders into the club , many taking to the sport like a duck does to water, others suffer but learn quickly. The odd fall helps towards a fast learning curve.

Some of these newer riders are pushing more established riders and thats always a good sign and augres well for the future.This brings me to todays racing , where once again three new riders tried cycle speedway for the first time and it looks like at least one has the goods to be competitive.

Only twenty seven riders fronted the tapes today , and after the previous days weather , hail ,wind , torrential rain and a cold snap , it was lucky that this lot turned up at all!Speaking of the previous day it would be a sin not to give Kevin Bickle a mention as he was out in that lot preparing a belter of a track for todays racing.Well done Kev.

The meet kicked off with the usual presentation lap where the best presented bikes in each team are awarded points.the points today went to Emily Carden for the Hornets , Plymouth Christian of the Orions and Jake Kerley of the Blackhawks.

The Tiny tots had a couple of new riders today with the inclusion of Jye Marrollo who absouletly flew first time up and had a ball doing it and the other new rider , Blair Bevan , who was having a ride literally for the first time today and suffered because of the training wheels and the odd corner ,but had a ball and always jumped back on.

Emily carden showed them all a clean set of heals today and rode well on her little chrome bike.

Division seven saw another new rider , Peter Marrollo , join the ranks and showed plenty of promise and looks the goods with four seconds.Michael Ratcliff was giving away 20m headstarts today and still picked up a maximum (20)Daniel Nichols missed the first heat but ended up third.

Division six and Joshua carden had a lot to live up to when his little sister scooped the pool so he did exactly the same , a maximum (20).Happy faces all round at the Carden's place! Jake Kerley had a successful day for second over Loky Faucett and Whitney Jones.

Division five and Braden Makepeace kept his winning way going by dropping a single point to second place getter Plymouth Christian.Third went to Billy Bax who was having trouble with blocking from Jake Mathews .

Division four saw the winner , Josh Debattista , liking the conditions of the track , which was very fast , by going on to a maximum (20) over a hard charging  , Robbie Vella , Angus Elliot , who had a nasty crash in heat one but came back and rode well for the remainder of the meet , and Marc Mastrodomenico.

Division three , Anthony Daniels had a day to remember with his first maximum (20) on his new bike that looks like it suits him perfectly over a hard riding Jay Walters and Dean Jolly.

Seniors over 30's and Darren Mathews wasn't really pushed today by Frank Jones who had one of his crashes again today but remounted and finished the race.The funny thing about the crash was he was riding the wrong way around the track after deciding on the grid to lift his bike over the tapes and line up facing the wrong way.

Mathews thought , why not , and joined him, the tapes flew up and they didn't even make it around the first lap!

Division two saw another maximum (20) go to Daniel Bax ,who was by far the fastest man on the track today ,as later time trials indicated with a 10.01 lap.(the lap record is 9.74 held by Adam Haldenby)Second went to Tyrone Walters who was quietly going about his way and had a good time trial also.Tony Bax picked up third over Cody chadwick.

Encouragement awards went to , Jye & Peter Marrollo and Blair Bevan.
