BIRMINGHAM have made a surprise team change by signing classy Australian Craig Watson from Newport.
Watson, who finished on the Perry Barr rostrum at Birmingham's grand reopening last year, replaces Dane Henning Bager who has rejoined his former club Peterborough.
Watson became available under sad circumstances after the sad passing of Newport owner Tim Stone which forced the South Wales club to sit out the rest of the Premier League season.
BRC Roofing Brummies boss Graham Drury said: "I've wanted to sign Craig in the past, he's a rider I rate very highly and I'm pleased to have finally signed him.
"I feel very sad about what's happened at Newport and it's a shame to lose them from the Premier League. I hope they return next season.
"But when Craig became available I spoke to him immediately and I'm sure he will prove to be a good signing for us."
Watson will make his debut against King's Lynn at Perry Barr next Sunday, May 25, and the club would like to offer their best wishes to Henning Bager for a successful return to Peterborough and thank him for his efforts during his time with us.
