The visit of Stockport to Redbraes last Sunday (13th May) made for an interesting and a much more competitive match than the final score would suggest.
Stockport, minus several established stars from the last few years, arrived in Edinburgh in shorts and flip flops only to find the temperature had dropped considerably during the trip up the M6.
As for the match itself, the leading riders for both clubs top scored as expected with Alan Smith and Terry Norman dropping points to each other on their way to a 19 point haul. For the home side Craig Newsome also scored a paid 19 score as he played a Captains role in looking after his team mates. Standout for the home side was Jake Slight, who recently turned 15 and celebrated by racing to a 19 point score suffering only one defeat to Terry Norman.
For Stockport, although short on numbers they must take great heart from the progress of their three youngsters, who are rapidly improving.
Edinburgh 86:
Alan Smith 19, Neil McPherson 14+3, Tommy Lee 5, Craig Newsome 17+2, Lee Lawrence 12+2, Jake Slight 19.
Stockport 64:
Terry Norman 19, Dylan Radcliffe 8, Graham Johnston 11+1, Ben Higham 8, Jeff Radcliffe 12+1, Jack Lush 6+1.
Next home match for the Falcons:
Sunday 25th May 2008 v Stoke, Northern League
Tapes up at 2pm
