WOLVERHAMPTON are still looking for their first away win of the season after a 53-38 Elite League defeat at Ipswich.

On a hot night in Suffolk the Monmore men were chasing the meeting despite a reasonable start.

David Howe bravely declared himself fit after his crash on Monday and provided support for top two Freddie Lindgren and Niels Kristian Iversen - but the bottom end of the team failed to respond.

It's not very often a race ends with just one rider, but that was the case in Heat 8 when Piotr Swiderski picked up the race win unchallenged after Chris Schramm fell and Kenneth Hansen retired. Unbelievably, Ales Dryml also fell in the re-run to gift the Pole victory and Ipswich went 28-17 up.

Grand Prix star Niels Kristian Iversen was nominated for double points in Heat 10 but was no match for Jarek Hampel and had to settle for second place and four-points. With Nicolai Klindt at the back the race ended 4-4.

Skipper Lindgren was brought in to replace Christian Hefenbrock two races later off 15-metres for double points and did well to pass Chris Schramm - but former World Under-21 Champion Robert Miskowiak was too far ahead to end any hopes of a sensational Lindgren win.

Ipswich went on to finish the job and Wolves will be naturally concerned over their current league record which they must be looking to correct soon.

Ipswich: Jarek Hampel 13, Robert Miskowiak 12+2, Tobias Kroner 9+1, Steve Johnston 9+1, Piotr Swiderski 9+1, Chris Schramm 1, Chris Louis R/R.

Wolverhampton: Freddie Lindgren 13, Niels-Kristian Iversen 12+2, David Howe 8, Christian Hefenbrock 2, Kenneth Hansen 1+1, Nicolai Klindt 1, Ales Dryml 1.
