It's Good to back on deck and well enough to go back to the track and what a great day it was too, perfect weather , great hard racing and plenty of members on hand to enjoy it!
Being a closed championship meant your handicaps still applied , unlike open championships where all starts are gate starts.
37 riders fronted today on a slightly loose track that saw some riders sliding a bit and others handle it beautifully.
With Brian Chadwick doing a great job of commentating , the day got off to a great start with a couple of Tiny Tots going at it and both those riders were girls.Emily Makepeace and Emma Nichols both recieved a trophy for their efforts, at the presentation.
The division Seven mob were up next and the wins were shared around in the heats with Mathew Snowden having one although his cranks were a bit long making him take the corners very wide.Kaeden Langham also scored a win but Michael Ratcliff picked up three!
At the presentation the goodies went to Michael Ratcliff (16) Mathew snowden (16) Kaeden Langham (14).
Division Six was a race to see who would end on top of the pecking order as all three riders were going to get a trophy it was in what order that remained to be seen.
Through the heats Joshua Carden had three wins and a couple of seconds for (18) whitney Jones was right behind him with a couple of wins on (17) while Phoebe McDonald picked up (10).
Division Five was the hardest to win as there were eight riders vieing for three possitions.Through the heats Luke Childs didn't drop a point with a (maximum 20) followed by Braden Makepeace who put in some solid rides for (14) followed by Plymouth Christian who also tried hard for (12) Ryan Greenhalgh was the best of the rest with some solid rides too.
The final outcome was as above with the trophies going to Luke ,Braden & Plymouth.
Division Four had seven starters and Mr.Smooth, Josh Debattista picked up four wins and a second on his was to collecting the trophy for 1st place on (19) followed by another rider in second with (16) and third spot going to Robbie Vella on (14) who had a couple of wins.
Robbie Vella was also the guy giving out the medals as he was the reigning "Presidents Medal" holder from last season.
Division Three only had three riders and once again it was in what order the trophies would be handed out but dont let that fool you cause all three of these riders left it all out there on the track today.Anthony Daniels grew an extra leg today and took it up to the other riders but still lacks that bit of polish to put the big ones away.
Dean Jolly and Anthony swapped points all the way through the heats with Anthony being unlucky with a fall in the last race to only get two points , he needed three to force a ride off for first and second. It didn't make much difference as the final scores were 1st.Dean Jolly (17) 2nd. Anthony Daniels (16) and 3rd. went to Jay Walters on (12).
Seniors over 30's and Darren Mathews won all three of the handicap events for (18) over John Hill who won all the gate starts with (14) and in third spot Frank Jones alias "Goldmember" on (10).The golden bit is because Frank has painted his bike ,rims ,handlebars etc, GOLD!
Division Two , and six riders put on some close fast racing today with only one rider dominating the soring off the back mark of -9 was Cody chadwick with (14) Cody was racing today with about 6-8 stiches still in his hand ahead of Matt Mathews on (9) with a tie and forcing a ride-off between Nigel Greenhalgh (8) and Daniel Bax(8).
The ride-off meant nigel had to give Daniel a couple of meters headstart as they had to use their handicap markers to start from.It was just a little to much for the old man of the field to give a rider of Daniel's capabilities and Daniel picked up third as a result of this win.
Final positions were 1st. Cody Chadwick 2nd. Matt Mathews 3rd. daniel Bax.
Encouragement awards went to Monique Mathews and Jacob childs.
