Speedway fans will have to wait until next month for some racing action at Wagga’s Yarragundry Park circuit.
Again, the lack of availability of solo and sidecar competitors has forced the hands of co-promoters Bob Sunderland and Terry Poole to defer the meeting planned for this weekend.
Darrin Treloar and passenger Justin Plaisted, who won another Australian Sidecar Championship last weekend in Adelaide, had nominated for this weekend but it seems that a number of their rivals are looking for a break after a recent heavy schedule of racing.
In addition, meetings are being staged at Newcastle this Friday and the Gold Coast on Saturday giving competitors, particularly those from the northern and central regions of the state, the options of contesting those meetings closer to home.
That date clash is something that has upset Poole as he said he and Sunderland applied for their dates many months in advance only to find that other meetings have been allowed to be staged taking competitors away from Wagga.
Poole has called for greater co-operation between tracks in future to ensure that they are not working in opposition when it comes to attracting competitors and fans.
