Swedish company Sapa Profiler AB, part of Sapa Group, one of the world’s leading developers, manufacturers and marketers of aluminium profiles, has signed a deal with BSI Speedway – an IMG company - to be title sponsor of the 2008 FIM Swedish Speedway Grand Prix.

The third round of the world championship FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series  (SGP) takes place at Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden, on 24 May 2008, and will be officially known as the FIM Sapa Swedish Speedway Grand Prix.

Commenting on the deal, Rob Armstrong, Head of Motorsports, IMG, said: “Scandinavia and particularly Sweden is a very strong market for the SGP Series.  With the return of world championship speedway to Sweden’s national stadium, Ullevi, and a new television deal with SVT, it is great news to complement this with the sponsorship of one of the country’s biggest manufacturing companies Sapa.

“We look forward to working with Sapa as part of our commitment to ensuring both the Gothenburg event and the Series continue to develop and grow.”

This is the first time Sapa Profiler, with headquarters in Vetlanda, Sweden,  has secured a title sponsorship of the SGP Series. Jan-Evert Johansson, Sales Director Sapa, explains: “The FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series is one of Sweden’s leading motorsport events and we are very excited to be an integral part of the Grand Prix at Ullevi.  The sponsorship will strengthen our brand and give good opportunities to spend time with our customers.”

Tickets for the FIM Swedish Speedway Grand Prix, 24 May 2008, Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, are available from: www.ticnet.se or www.speedwayworld.tv
