The 2007 FIM Track Sidecar Gold Trophy 1000cc Welcome Dinner took place last night in The Ram Shed at Adelaide Showground, with over 200 people in attendance.
At the fairly informal event, riders and their passengers were presented with official medallions and introduced to the crowd, before answering a host of one-on-one questions with the evening’s emcee, David Tapp.
The official FIM Referee, Istvan Darago of Hungary, and the FIM Jury President, Christer Bergstrom of Sweden were both in attendance, and Bergstrom along with Motorcycling Australia’s CEO - David White, both made stirring speeches.
An auction took place with two race jackets – signed by all of the riders, going under the hammer, with the second one fetching over $800 for charity.
With country tunes being belted out, bales of hay lining the shed and the smell of former show animals filling the air, the setting was a great introduction into Aussie life for the international guests, and that was topped off with a barbeque buffet dinner.
The night was a great follow up to the official Media Day held earlier, and the successful start to the event has everyone at Wayville excited for the rest of the action to follow.
