In the midst of the year's hottest weather, the staff of Mackey Marketing Group (MMG) are trying to keep their cool.
As marketing representatives of World Speedway Racing Association's ICE Racing, an indoor arena motorcycle racing series with competitors competing on hockey rink ice, Mackey Marketing Group forwarded an idea to cool the budgets of prospective sponsors.
For each degree over 90 degrees as officially registered in Atlanta, GA, MMG will discount the sponsor fees 1%. An official high of 95 degrees will result in a 5% discount, 100 degrees is ten percent and so on. But the sponsor will receive the discount for the day following the commitment to the series. In that manner, the exact discount won't be known until the day following the obligation.
"It's not exactly a natural time to think about ICE racing," commented Brian Mackey, president of Mackey Marketing Group. "We wanted to bring some attention to the series and at the same time, get our mind off the oppressive heat that is Atlanta in August! The past few days have been brutal. We thought this might be a way to have some fun betting when the hottest day will occur!" The sale will end when the heat wave ends - hopefully soon!
Prospective sponsors are encouraged to call when they feel the hottest day of the heat wave is about to occur - during this heat wave or the next one. Days over 100 degrees in Atlanta GA during August are not
particularly rare. Days over 105 are.
ICE Racing is a stand-alone series of indoor motorcycle racing, along with quads and pit bikes that are staged at hockey rink arenas throughout the Midwest MidAtlantic, Northeast and Canada.
The action is non-stop with motorcycles capable of 0-60 mph in less than three seconds on tires with sharp steel-studs to assure some grip on the ice surface!
