Australia has named an unchanged team for the 2007 FIM Speedway World Cup Race-Off in Leszno, Poland, to the one which came third at last week’s qualifying round in Denmark.

After two practise sessions, the senior members of the Aussie team got together with Team Manager Craig Boyce, to discuss selections for tonight’s event.

At the end of discussions it was revealed that Chris Holder and Rory Schlein would join Ryan Sullivan, Leigh Adams and Jason Crump in the team.

Australia’s Dave Watt was given a huge chance of coming into the team ahead of the practise sessions, but after posting similar practise times to the other riders was left out of the line-up.

Speaking after practice, Boyce admitted that selection was a hard job and that it was tough to leave a rider like Watt out of the starting line-up, but said that the decision had been made and the team is now looking forward to this evening.

“Unchanged team selection and we’ll see how we go tonight,” he said.

“Dave Watt, Chris Holder and Rory Schlein were all doing roughly the same lap times.

“Dave’s not very happy and he has just stormed out of the pits, but it is a team decision, not just my decision.

“They all want to represent their country and he’s really upset that he’s not riding, but that’s how it goes.”

The Australian Team has headed off into the city to have a meal and unwind ahead of tonight’s big event.

Tickets are apparently sold out for the event which is not surprising given that the Polish Team are riding, and the sport of Speedway is held in the highest regard over here.
