2006 FIM Congress news: General Assembly.

Yesterday during the session of the General Assembly in Salvador, FIM President Francesco Zerbi gave in his opening address a detailed report on the achievements of the FIM during the eleven years of his presidency.

The report was unanimously approved by the Management Council and the General Assembly.

- Mr Jorge Viegas (Portugal) was elected Vice-President, and Mr Stig Klemetz (Sweden) was elected Internal Auditor.

- The 2005 accounts and balance sheet were unanimously approved, as well as the 2007 budget.

- The annual reports of the Presidents of the Continental Unions, Commissions and Panels were all accepted unanimously by the General Assembly.

- The National Federations of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Montenegro were accepted by the General Assembly as new FIM Members.

- The General Assembly gave mandate to the Management Council to adopt a modernised FIM logo which will be presented at the Conference Meetings in Geneva (February 2007).

- A cooperation agreement has also been approved between the FIM and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Today and tomorrow, the Commissions and Panels have their working meetings. The meeting of the Secretaries General of the National Federations will take place tomorrow afternoon.
