BIRMINGHAM hand a debut to no less than five new signings when they open an exciting new Speedway season against Premier League rivals Stoke at Perry Barr on Wednesday (7.30).

The BRC Roofing Brummies have reshaped their team during the winter with American ace Chris
Kerr joined by Australians Steve Johnston, Aaron Summers, Justin Sedgmen and Jake Anderson.

And it’s also the first meeting for new Birmingham chief Gary Patchett, who is leasing the club from Tony Mole for the year pending a planning application to keep the sport in the city on a permanent basis.
Said Patchett: “I’m looking forward to it, Graham Drury (team manager) has done a great job putting the team together and it would be nice to get off to a winning start against Stoke.”

It’s first leg of the M6 Trophy with the return at Stoke on Saturday and Birmingham are looking for revenge after losing to the Potters at the end of last seaason.

Stoke are a new-look side this season with Wolves rider Hynek Stichauer joined by Coventry's Ricky Wells on loan from the Elite League.

A bumper crowd is expected for this opening night of the fourth season of the modern era at the club.

BIRMINGHAM: Steve Johnston, Aaron Summers, Chris Kerr, Richard Sweetman, Jason Lyons, Justin Sedgmen, Jake Anderson.

STOKE: Jason Bunyan, Klaus Jakobsen, Michal Rajkowski, Hynek Stichauer, Ricky Wells, James Holder, Taylor Poole.
