WOLVERHAMPTON have completed the formalities of signing American ace Chris Kerr on a part-time basis for the new Elite League campaign.

Kerr will share one of the reserve spots in the Parrys International Wolves team alongside talented teenager Joe Haines – and he will ride full-time for neighbours Birmingham in the Premier League.

The former Redcar and Newport man was a regular in last season’s title winning team after unlucky newcomer Hynek Stichauer suffered from injury mid-way through the season.

He rode in over half of their league meetings and appeared in every leg of the play-offs and made several important contributions.

Wolves owner Chris Van Straaten said: “We agreed everything with Chris some time ago but never announced it properly.

“I’ve had another club asking about his availability and that’s what prompted me to make the announcement. It was something taken for granted after we announced the rest of the team over a month ago.

“He will be sharing one of the reserve spots with young Joe and I expect a bit of competition developing there to see who gets the most meetings with us.

“Chris now has the platform to go on and take his career up another notch. He is based in the area so to be riding for both ourselves and Birmingham is good for him.”
