Edinburgh defeated Stockport today in a Northern League fixture at Redbraes Park by 75 points to 70.
In what turned out to be a tight contest over the 15 heat format the lead swung back and forth before Edinburgh’s strength in depth eventually paid dividends.
The home side started strongly and the young Stockport side fell behind to a first heat maximum only to claw their way back into the match and lead by three points after heat 9. However a strong finishing spell by the home side ensured the league points stayed in the capital.
The tight score line throughout was mainly in part due to the four exclusions handed out by Referee Mackie to the home side for minor misdemeanours. Although a late exclusion in heat 12 for Stockport put paid to their chances of securing a result.
Both sets of riders put on a good show with young Ben Higham fairing well for Stockport behind the experienced Terry Norman whilst for the home side there was no real standouts in a Team performance although Craig Newsome posted three wins from the three races he finished.
Edinburgh, 75:
