With rounds in 5 different European countries, we are very excited about the racing season ahead!
Fascinated by the pure, big wheel racers, a new generation of glamorous street trackers is unfolding and growing fast in the cities, workshops and on internet blogs! This leads to an increasing awareness of flat track racing and contributes to the steady growth of the sport in Europe as well.
After the success of the past two seasons we can now count on the full support of the German motor sport federation. With the DMSB publishing the flat track regulations, every club in Europe can organize flat track races to the same rules!
The starting grids are looking stronger than ever before. The established riders have become noticeably faster, and new riders are joining in from Germany, Italy, England, Switzerland and the Dutch grass racing scene. And with races now also in Austria, Belgium, France and the Czech Republic, we can expect some enthusiasm there too!
The racing season kicks off on the 12th of April on the red dirt of Neuenknick, Germany. A month later we race in the Czech republic during the long track Grand Prix! The race in Marianske Lazne will be hosted on the beautiful 1000m track in the middle of town on Saturday 20 June. This is where we will see all the twins in action! Pete Boast, Edy Put & Glyn Pocklington on their Suzukis. Harley-Davidson twins with Mario Müggler, Steve Hillary, Thomas Weigl & Jan-Willem Jansen.
Tim Greig on the Aprilia and maybe even Josef Kluger on his BMW! We can expect a big crowd here! On Sunday June 21th we make the Austrian premiere on the short track of Heidenreichstein. This is the home track of the Gatzenmeier brothers. The new south German duo have prepared some exceptionally beautiful KTMs! July 5th we return to the 700m track in Parchim in the north of Germany. And another newcomer will be the race in Heusden, Belgium on September 6th. This fantastic short track is located right in the heart of motocross champions breeding country.
Then we can look forward to the final championship race which will be hosted in Tayac, France on October 4th. With the many friends and fans in France it will be great to race there! The prize purse for the 2009 International Mefo Sport Flattrack Cup is 5000 Euros!! Who will take the biggest slice? Will Marco Belli hold on to his #1 plate? We can expect fierce competition from the Dutch grass track aces and short track UK racers.
We can look forward to another nations cup of flat track and this year it will be hosted on the Austrian short track in Heidenreichstein on August 23th!
Thanks to the continuous support of Mefo Sport, Custom Chrome, Dickies Europe, SICD, Acerbis, Fat-Cat & dirtbike magazine, we look forward to another great season of spectacular sliding, close racing and lots of fun!
