Market Rasen’s Peter Boast claimed his third win in four years at the annual Christmas Cracker Short Track meeting which took place at the Eddie Wright Raceway in Scunthorpe on Saturday afternoon.
A strong field provided plenty of challengers for Boast’s crown with Australian former speedway rider Tony Primmer, Horncastle’s Karl Willerton and road racer Steve Plater looking particularly impressive early on. Unfortunately Primmer, who had looked the most likely to defeat Boast crashed out on the second turn of the final and it was left to Tealby’s Tim Greig and Woodhall Spa’s Plater to chase Boast and fill the podium positions.
The Welbourns Quad racing saw Alan Hooker from Caistor claim victory ahead of Boston’s Chris Wright and Chesterfield’s Mandy Renshaw. Hooker was beaten by Wright in one race but Hooker won the rest of the heats to claim the title.
