SHEFFIELD Speedway will announce their new captain for the 2009 season this Thursday.

The Owlerton club have been looking to make an appointment since Andre Compton’s decision to retire from the sport at the end of last season.

Tigers co-boss Neil Machin said: “It’s been a hectic time since we returned from the AGM last week, we’ve been talking to a lot of different riders as we’re rebuilding the team.

“The appointment of our captain is vital and we are now in a position to name the rider and our second signing on Thursday.”
