ICE President & Founder Gary Densford explains; “It’s always exciting preparing for a new winter season, not knowing what will take place on the race track and who our World Champions will be at the end. This is especially true now as competitive as this series has become in recent years. This intense competition is reflected by the exceptionally high level of talent our series is attracting and the latest champions we’ve crowned. In the fast growing Manufacturers World Cup Bike Division none other than “Smokin” Joe Kopp won it all last winter. In ‘07’ “Jammin” Jared Mees won the title and “Showtime” Johnny Murphree the previous year.”
Densford goes on to say; “This winter will be the 25th Anniversary Season since ICE created and incorporated the Unlimited Outlaw Quad Division to the series. Their ranks have grown steadily over the years and we expect full Quad fields everywhere this season. “Dangerous” Daniel Bergquist has won the World Championship Title for the past two years, Canada’s Dick Matei before that.”
According to Densford; “ICE will introduce a new electronic transponder scoring system to the World Championship Series this winter. Some of our eight rider LCQ’s and Main Events get pretty wild, and the lap times have gotten incredibly quick! The new scoring system should eliminate the possibility of human error. Also, the system will give us immediate printouts allowing ICE Officials to keep the events running smoothly and should help make the media’s job a little easier. We’ve got amateur races now, and are planning pro events for the future, with 20+ riders on the track. Our new scoring system will be a valuable tool for ICE’s future.”
