Peterborough Speedway brings their season to an end this Friday 25th October 2008, with the Readypower No.1 for Plant Hire Pairs Championship and Fireworks Spectacular.

It hasn't been a particularly good year for the Panthers on track, but a recent change in ownership has significantly improved the team's fortunes and the clubs future, and they finished the season in good form by easily overcoming Wolverhampton in the relegation play off's.

Having now got the play off's out of the way; attention can be directed to the season's finale, the Readypower No.1 for Plant Hire Pairs Championship and Fireworks Spectacular.  There have been changes to the line up since it was added to the fixture list, with the withdrawals of Ty Proctor, Simon Lambert and Mikael Vissing.  Additionally, following the unfortunate injury sustained in the last match with Wolves, Panthers Captain Danny King will be unable to take his place, although he has stated he will still be in attendance.

Tai Woffinden, Richard Hall and Carl Wilkinson replace the aforementioned trio with the management close to arranging the final rider to replace Danny King.

In addition the veterans Men in Black will also star and they will kick off proceedings at 7.00 pm with 9 heats of demonstration rides with the main event parade and heats following.

The bumper 30 heats of Speedway are followed by presentations to riders and this is then followed by a Firework Spectacular, which will bring the meeting and the season to a fitting climax.

Owner Rick Frost said: "I would like to welcome all our sponsors and supporters to the final meeting of the season, the Readypower No.1 for Plant Hire Pairs Championship and Firework Spectacular.  We have an interesting programme of events for the evening culminating in a grand firework display. Now the league season has finished on a high, having ended with new club record points win over Wolves last week, it is time to relax and enjoy a fun evening with all our friends.

We will announce the 2009 Panthers team as soon as is practically possible after the BSPA AGM in November, bearing in mind the signing of contracts and other formalities which have to be completed first etc. and I can promise you it will be a strong and exciting team that will more than capable of winning the Elite league next year, the 40th year of racing Speedway at Peterborough.

Thank you to everyone for your loyalty and support through difficult times in 2008 and let's look forward to a great season next year with the future of the club secure."
