Scott Nicholls will ride for Lakeside in their Elite League Grand Final visit to Poole on Monday.
The Eastbourne rider deputises for Swede Andreas Jonsson who is ill with a virus and was due to miss Saturday’s ill-fated German Grand Prix.
Hammers boss Jon Cook said: “AJ has a high temperature and a problem with his digestive system. We’re pleased to have Scott on board for a big meeting.”
Magnus Zetterstrom has revealed how he thought his British career was over – before rejoining Poole.
Zetterstrom is on the verge of winning the Elite League title as Pirates hold a six-point lead going into their home leg with Lakeside.
Said Zetterstrom: “I honestly thought my British career was over at the end of last season with Somerset. I’m indebted to Poole for bringing me back in a successful team.”
