Peterborough and Wolverhampton will make Elite League history on Tuesday night as they take part in the first ever relegation Play Off, to determine who takes on the Premier League Play Off Champions for a place in the Elite League 2009.
It goes without saying that both teams will be keen to avoid losing and with one aggregate victory apiece in the Elite League battles this season, the matches are sure to be very competitive.
Wolverhampton haven't won a league match since the 25th August, when they beat Belle Vue 48:45 at home, but the Panthers will need no reminding that on the two occasions they have visited Monmore Green this year they have been well beaten, and they will need to seriously up their game on this occasion, if they are come out on top.
GP stars Freddie Lindgren and Niels Kristian Iversen provide the Wolves spearhead and they are backed up by David Howe and recent additions Jesper B Monberg and Morten Risager.
Danish Under 21 Champion Nicolai Klindt and Freddie Lindgren's younger brother Ludvig complete the team at reserve, and although things haven't gone their way much recently, they are well able to remedy that on Tuesday.
Panthers meanwhile have their own problems with No 1 Ryan Sullivan declining to ride, and having been provided with a facility for the missing Captain, have booked track specialist Rory Schlein to fill the gap.
Other than that the Panthers are unchanged and will be looking for strong displays by Kenneth Bjerre and Danny King, both of which enjoy racing at Monmore, as well as some consistent scoring from the rest of the team.
Team Manager Trevor Swales said: "This is a very important meeting for us and we will be aiming to secure our future in the Elite League. I don't think you can take to much notice of the last two meetings at Monmore this year as we now have a completely different team, and we aren't just going there to keep the scores close we are going with the intention off winning and I believe that is achievable. It's a real shame that Ryan Sullivan couldn't fit the plays off's into his schedule, but we have an excellent replacement in Rory Schlein and the Captain's role will be taken by Danny King who will now continue in that role until the end of the season.
We must not be over confident and I will prevent any complacency creeping in, but we need to be focused and on our current form I think we are the better team, we are definitely riding well at the moment."
Team Captain Danny King said: "It should be a good match and to be fair I fancy us to do well, we will certainly be looking to score as many as possible and I don't think it's beyond our capabilities to win at Monmore, we have a great team spirit since Rick took over and we see the play off's as two extra matches and we all aim to make the most of it."
Owner Rick Frost said: "We know they will hard to beat at Monmore, but that doesn't mean we won't beat them. We have to remember our only away win this year was at Poole and it doesn't get much harder than that! I know our riders will be giving their all for a win away from home and the way they are all riding my money is on them. I hope as many of our supporters as possible will make the journey to Wolverhampton to support them."
