The latest word on Thursday morning (October 9th) is that Stefan Ekberg’s injuries are much more serious than originally hoped for on Wednesday night at King’s Lynn.
Initial hospital examination has revealed one, or possibly two, cracked vertebrae and several broken ribs. Stefan is undergoing further scans this morning, with a view to an immediate operation.
Given the extent of his injury, Stefan is likely to be sidelined from the sport, and alternative employment, for six months or more. With this in mind, and given Stefan’s family commitment to a wife and three children, Rye House will be holding a collection for him during Saturday’s home return match against King’s Lynn.
For the immediate future of that match against the Stars, the Rockets will be operating Rider-Replacement as cover. With Stefan now again second in the Rye averages, all of the remaining members of the team will be eligible for replacement rides.
