BIRMINGHAM Speedway are preparing for the biggest night since the relaunch of the sport in the city when they proudly present the Elite League Riders' Championship on Wednesday (7.30pm).

It's a rare opportunity for fans to enjoy some of the best riders in the world, many of whom they only normally see on TV, in action on a neutral track.

Belle Vue's two-times World Champion Jason Crump starts the event as one of the favourites along with his fellow Australian, Leigh Adams, arguably the greatest rider in modern times never to have lifted the world crown.

Local interest will focus on Wolverhampton's young Scandinavian stars Freddie Lindgren and Niels Kristian Iversen and Coventry will be represented by Grand Prix stars Chris Harris and Hans Andersen.

Birmingham boss Graham Drury said: "This is going to be a terrific night and we're all looking forward to it with great anticipation.

"There's a great mixture of established Grand Prix superstars and talented youngsters with hopes of winning the world title. It's going to be a treat for the fans and I urgent them all to get here early."

Readmission tickets from the rained-off staging of the event in August apply and on production of a programme from that night a free colour racecard will be issued. Souvenir programmes, to include the new racecard, will be on sale for £3.

Extra parking is available in surrounding areas around the Perry Barr venue and the event is sponsored by Renault Birmingham.

LINE-UP: Chris Holder (Poole), Jason Crump (Belle Vue), Freddie Lindgren (Wolverhampton), Leigh Adams (Swindon), Chris Harris (Coventry), Edward Kennett (Eastbourne), Piotr Swiderski (Ipswich), Kenneth Bjerre (Peterborough), Charlie Gjedde (Belle Vue), Jurica Pavlic (Swindon), Leigh Lanham (Lakeside), Bjarne Pedersen (Poole), Danny King (Peterborough), Rory Schlein (Ipswich), Hans Andersen (Coventry), Niels Kristian Iversen (Wolverhampton).
