The Wightlink Islanders are back in action at the Wave 105 Smallbrook Stadium tonight at 7.30pm when they entertain the Sheffield Tigers in the first leg of their Young Shield quarter final clash.
And skipper Jason Bunyan and his men will be looking to build up as big a lead as possible to take with them for the return leg up in Yorkshire on Thursday to give them every chance of progressing through to the competition's semi-finals and the prospect of meeting either Redcar, Berwick or Workington who have already made it through from the other quarter final ties.
There's a great deal of confidence within the Wightlink Islanders' ranks that they can achieve their objective and that confidence is based upon the fact that they have already defeated Sheffield twice this season at home, in the Premier Trophy and Premier League matches, and the team are determined to complete a hat-trick tonight.
There are no injury problems, the team is at full strength and club chairman Mike Bellman is urging Islanders fans to turn out in force to cheer the team on saying, "this is our final chance to claim some silverware this year and, trust me when I say that the team really want to win the Young Shield and end the 2008 season on a real high."
