COVENTRY'S top two riders were both forced to pull out of the club's final Elite League match of the season on a bruising night in Manchester.
Chris Harris aggravated his previous injuries and Hans Andersen crashed out in his third ride of a meeting in which the home side secured their top-flight survival.
Belle Vue's win has dropped Peterborough back into the bottom two, and the Panthers will now face Wolverhampton over two legs in the first-ever relegation race-off.
Harris, returning after his pre-Italian Grand Prix crash, did not fall at Kirkmanshulme Lane but twisted awkwardly on a difficult surface during his first ride, and it was clear during his next outing that he was struggling and could take no further part.
Andersen, meanwhile, was battling with Joe Screen for the lead of Heat 11 when he lost control on a tricky fourth bend and landed heavily on his shoulder.
Early indications were that he had suffered no broken bones, but he was advised to pull out of the remainder of the meeting.
With the Coventry big guns out of commission, it was perhaps no surprise that the Aces took the points they needed in fairly comfortable fashion.
But major credit should go to Coventry's reserve guest, 17-year-old Joe Haines, who put in a magnificent performance, riding with determination and maturity to deservedly top the scorechart.
Haines won three races and fully earned his nomination for Heat 15 as he stood in superbly for the unavailable Filip Sitera.
A further plus point was the return from injury of Simon Stead, who not surprisingly took time to get into the meeting after over a month out, but gained in confidence as the match went on.
And Bees will need every member of their team fully fit and firing when they go into their next meeting, which is the first leg of the Craven Shield Final at Lakeside next Thursday.
