It is the news Swedish speedway fans have been waiting for - tickets for the 2009 FIM Swedish Speedway Grand Prix are now on sale!

Ullevi Stadium, Gothenburg, Sweden, on the 30 May 2009 will be the venue and date for next year’s world championship event and fans who book their tickets before the 31 December 2008 will be able to take advantage of the early booking offer, with many of the tickets available at a discounted rate.

“The return of world championship speedway to Ullevi this year was a resounding success and we are looking forward to returning there in 2009.” said Paul Bellamy, Managing Director, BSI Speedway.  “Ullevi and Gothenburg are a venue and city steeped in world championship speedway history and we are delighted to maintain this legacy.

“Last year the crowd created a great atmosphere and were rewarded with young Swedish rider Fredrik Lindgren finishing second on the podium in only his third Grand Prix as a permanent rider in the Series. Sweden continues to be a hotbed for both domestic and world championship speedway and we look forward to once again welcoming fans from across Sweden and Europe on 30 May 2009.”

Few national stadiums can boast a speedway history like Ullevi.  The 2009 FIM Swedish Speedway Grand Prix will be the fifth FIM Speedway Grand Prix to be held at Ullevi, the stadium also hosted nine individual speedway world finals from 1964 to 1991.  It is a record that the venue is very proud of as Anders Albertsson, Stadium Manager, Ullevi Stadium, explained:
