Racing fans will truly enjoy an early Christmas gift when the 33rd Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series makes a stop in Topeka on December 13th.

This historic event will take place at the Kansas Expocentre and marks the first time the world’s premier ice racing series has competed in Kansas.

World Championship ICE Racing features two professional divisions of competition. The thoroughbreds of the sport are the Manufacturers World Cup Motorcycles. High powered, lightweight, lightning quick, state-of-the-art racing motorcycles made by the world’s major manufacturers and ridden by the world’s top riders. Topeka race fans will no doubt recognize riders that compete in the World Championship ICE Racing Series as many of them also compete in the Grand National Championship Dirt Track Series. The GNC dirt series makes two stops in Topeka this year. Top dirt track racers “Smokin” Joe Kopp from Mica, WA (2008) and “Jammin” Jared Mees from Clio, MI (2007) have been ICE’s World Champions the last two seasons.

Also competing, celebrating their 25th Anniversary since debuted with ICE, the pro Unlimited Outlaw Quads. These highly modified 4-wheel ATV’s feature big horsepower and colorful riders who just might be a little too brave for their own good!

Expect some wild no holds barred riders and machines racing in Topeka. Among those expected are Madison, WI’s Chuck Calvert and his Gutterridge Harley-Davidson powered “Thunder” Quad and the 1,000cc 4-cylinder Suzuki GXR powered “Insanity” Quad ridden by Drew “Dewey” Bergquist from Burlington, IA. Drew’s older brother Daniel will be trying for his third consecutive ICE Outlaw Quad World Championship on his trusty Honda. “The Race Cars You Sit On – Not In” will prove once and for all that racing IS a contact sport!

World Championship ICE Racing is an exciting fast paced sport enjoyed by the whole family. With this in mind the Kansas Expocentre is offering very family friendly pricing to witness firsthand the world’s top ice racers in action. General Admission tickets purchased in advance are just $15 for Adults and only $5 for Kids age 12 and under. That’s right, just FIVE BUCKS!  VIP Reserved tickets are also available. Tickets will go on sale for this event October 18th at the Expocentre Box Office open 10AM – 6PM (785) 297-1000, or online at Ticketmaster.com, Charge by Phone at (785) 234-4545 or pick up at Ticketmaster Outlets: Dillon’s Food Stores @ 29th & Topeka; 21st & Belle; NW 25th & Rochester.
