This Saturday Night, September 27th, Costa Mesa Speedway continues to celebrate it's 40th consecutive racing season and the people responsible for making it the longest running and most successful weekly motorcycle racing program in the nation!
Firstly, thanks to our founders, 1937 World Speedway Champion Jack Milne who was the inspiration for the rebirth of American Speedway, my dad Harry Oxley who's hard work, perseverance and enthusiasm took the sport to levels never achieved before or since and my mom Marilynn whose dedication behind the scenes kept all of us together.
Without sister Laurie, Jean Fink, Gary and Sandy Hicks, Terry Clanton, Ryan Evans, Shirley Inman, Bruce Hedrick, Lenny Bennik, John Creith, Jim Brokaw and the many people behind the scenes 40 years of great family entertainment would not have been possible.
Of course, our competitors have always provided the thrills, spills and chills which we return week after week to see. Costa Mesa Speedway has produced many star riders and they have made the weekly events famous and provided the best racing anywhere. Mike and Steve Bast, Rick Woods, Bill Cody, Sonny Nutter, Danny Becker and Scott Autry blazed a path for Bruce Penhall, Shawn and Kelly Moran, Alan Christian, Bobby Schwartz, Sam Ermolenko, Dennis Sigalos, Ron Preston, Mike Faria, Steve Lucero, Shawn McConnell, Chris Manchester, Greg Hancock, Billy Hamill, Bart Bast, Scott Brant, Billy Janniro and Charlie Venegas to follow. Costa Mesa Speedway is proud of all the American World and National Champions it has produced. Thank you to the hundreds of competitors who put the excitement into our weekly events.
Congratulations to last weeks winners
Shawn "Mad dog" McConnell, Eloy Medellin and Pat Smith who thrilled an enthusiastic crowd of race fans with full contact, bar to bar race action. Thanks to all who attended for your support. .
