It's a significant night in the recent history of the return of Speedway to Teesside on Thursday evening at the South Tees Motorsport Park, off South Bank Road, Middlesbrough when the Redcar 'TLS/Simpson Racing UK' Cubs face the Boston Barracudas in the first leg of the Conference League Play-Off Semi-Finals from 7.30pm.
For with the senior team winning the Premier League Young Shield play-offs in 2007 then the Cubs will be seeking to bring their own silverware to the Bears trophy cabinet too.
Cubs Manager Jason Pipe has selected a very competitive septet and is delighted to include Aaron Summers who was not that available because of Premier League commitments with Edinburgh to contest some of the fixtures in the Cubs exciting run-in of four consecutive home victories and an away draw at Boston to secure their top four spot in the Conference League.
Boston face problems going into this fixture with three of their riders injured riding for the Barracudas at Rye House Speedway. Darren Mallett hurt a shoulder and an arm; Simon Lambert his ribs and Darren Rolph a wrist and some fingers. They all face fitness and medical tests on the day.

The top three in Sunday's Premier League Riders' Championship at Sheffield Speedway have all accepted a place. So Tai Woffinden (Rye House), Jason Doyle (Somerset) and Adrian Rymel (Berwick) will all be displaying their skills PLUS twice World Speedway Champion Jason Crump of Belle Vue Aces and Australia will be making his debut on the 271 metre shale oval. Jason lies second in the current Grand Prix World Championship. Jason is, of course, not the only former Champion of the World on the track that night as the Bear's own skipper Gary Havelock achieved the sport's ultimate prize in his career too.
