The 33rd Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series schedules a first ever stop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
This historic two night World Championship Round will take place Friday and Saturday January 16th & 17th at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.
ICE racing's elite will be in Cedar Rapids to do battle in two professional divisions of competition. The thoroughbreds of the sport are the Manufacturers World Cup Motorcycles. High powered, lightweight, lightning quick, state-of-the-art racing motorcycles manufactured by the world's major factories. Also competing, in the 25th anniversary since their debut with ICE, the pro Unlimited Outlaw Quads. These wild highly modified 4-wheel ATV's feature big horsepower and colorful riders who might be just a little too brave for their own good!
Cedar Rapids fans can expect to see World Champions competing in both pro classes this January. Not the least of whom will be popular two time and defending Outlaw Quad World Champ and Iowa native Daniel Bergquist. Bergquist makes Burlington his home. He hit the road to compete in the tough ICE World Championship Series 5 years ago. He paid his dues on the track and has now won the championship the last two years. In the summer he races sprint cars throughout Iowa. Daniel will most certainly be joined by his "Iowa Posse" consisting of 3-4 additional pro Outlaws that frequently compete on the ICE Series.
ICE will also offer local amateurs the opportunity to try their hand at racing in the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Amateur classes include Big Dogs Pit Bikes, Amateur ICE Breaker Quads and Nitro X-Karts. For information concerning racing call (843) 234-2777 or go online to www.icespeedway.com.
Racing begins each night at 7:30PM. Over 20 races will be held each night to crown the champions, running approx. 2 1/2 hours.
