They may not have had the man of the match, but they had the men of the match.
The visitors’ Joe Haines was untouchable in delivering an 18 point maximum, but the Kart Raceway Cobras were still able to spring a surprise on title chasing Boston thanks to an all-round team effort which saw no less than five of the side paid for eight points or more. Pick of the bunch were probably Lee Strudwick (10+2) and Richard Franklin (10+1), although special mention should also be made of Rob Smith’s battling paid 10 after taking a heavy fall at Poole on Wednesday.
The Barracudas finished with five riders after Simon Lambert and Darren Mallet withdrew from falls. Lambert high-sided himself while giving chase to Strudwick and Gary Cottham as a Tactical substitute in Heat 8, while Mallett exited the meeting after his own tumble two races later. In fairness, those withdrawals did not affect the final outcome, as the Cobras were already looking dominant.

Rob Smith 9+1 (4 rides)

Andrew Aldridge 6 (4)

Joe Haines 18 (5 rides, inc 6 as a TR)
Darren Mallett 0 (3)

Following their previous wash-out at Sittingbourne on September the 7th, the Kart Raceway Cobras will head to Kent for their final away match in the Conference League next Sunday (September 28th at 12 noon). The Cobras have already won at the Old Gun Site this season in the Knock-Out Cup, and a repeat performance will give them their first League away win of the campaign - and also send the Crusaders to a winless record in 2008.
