Back by popular demand World Championship ICE Racing returns to the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, IL on Saturday January 24th.
Last year's Bloomington World Championship Round was greeted by a packed house and produced arguably some of the most exciting ice racing ever seen. This was due largely to the incredibly large and deep in talent fields of racers showing up to compete.
Who will ever forget the last lap back straightaway pass by JR Schnabel for the win over Kevin Anderson. There was contact but who caused it is still being argued about! Other top Manufacturers World Cup Bike racers competing in that amazing night of racing were "Smokin" Joe Kopp the eventual 2008 ICE World Champion, "Jammin" Jared Mees 2007 ICE World Champ, Henry Wiles, Tom McGrane, Jake Mataya, Kenny Mohler, Rob Pearson, Brock Schwarzenbacher, Kenny "Hot Sauce" Malagaurnero, Jeremy DeRuyter, Mark "The Ice Man" Cheza to name some.
The ICE Unlimited Outlaw Quad battle was just as intense last year when eventual 2008 and 2-time World Champion Daniel Bergquist took the win. The action packed Main Event saw his father Don Bergquist crash hard on his 1,000cc GXR powered "Insanity" quad late in the race. The wreck took the Bergquist patriarch out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Other top national Pro Quad ice racers in the mix were Zach "Maniac" Thomas, 2008 Rookie-of-the-Year Brenden "Nut" Frazier, Steve Palmer, Chuck Calvert, Drew "Dewey" Bergquist, Dan Jensen, Brady Burk, Rich Schoeberl, local Bloomington racer Eric Prochnow and more.
An equally impressive, if not larger, field of racers is expected this year when rider introductions take place in the U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 7:30PM. Tickets will go on sale at 12noon on September 11th. Tickets can be purchased at the Coliseum Box Office, order by phone at (309) 454-5500, at all Ticketmaster Outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.com. The best seats will go fast - don't be left out in the cold!!
