Peterborough Speedway: Dryml confident Panthers can beat Poole.

The Poole Pirates arrive at the Showground on Monday for a meeting sponsored by Elite Sponsors Stanair, looking to carry on their marvellous current unbeaten sequence which now stands at 13 matches.

The current league leaders and now favourites for the title haven't been beaten in the league since Panthers beat them 46-44 on the 4th June at Wimborne Road.

They have lost since that date, to Swindon on the 19th June, but that was in the KO cup and it's fair to say they are a very competent side with strength throughout.

Bjarne Pedersen, Chris Holder and Davey Watt are their heat leaders and possess a good blend of experience, points scoring and young talent, with the added extra that all three of them ride the Showground very well.

Ex Panther Magnus Zetterstrom and Polish Champion Adam Skornicki are the additional team members with Freddie Eriksson and another Ex Panther Daniel Davidsson completing the team at reserve, it all adds up to one exciting side and one at the top of the current league table on merit.

Poole proved to strong for us in May when they handed us a comprehensive defeat by 22 points, but since then have undergone several changes and only four of that side will be appearing on Monday.

Panthers meanwhile have also completed several changes since that home defeat, and following on from the excellent team performance against Swindon and the rather poor one against Eastbourne, will be looking to produce more of the former in a bid to climb out of the relegation zone.

The importance of this fixture to both teams hasn't been lost on Sky Sports, who have now switched their proposed match for the 8th September to this fixture, and we will therefore be showing live speedway from the Showground two weeks running.

Team Manager Trevor Swales is counting on Karol Zabik coming through the weekends fitness test to ride at reserve, especially now knowing that Ty Proctor is unavailable, having been selected to ride for the Australian U21 side in a test match against England at Wolverhampton on Monday.

Team Manager Trevor Swales said: "I am hoping to have Zabic back which will undoubtedly add a bit of spice to the meeting and we will not be making it easy for them, I cannot believe so many riders had an off night against Eastbourne and Monday's another day.

I will be looking for a Swindon sort of effort and the result will automatically follow, it's obviously going to be another hard meeting as they have many riders that ride the Showground well, we will be pushing hard right from the start and the riders are under no illusions as to what is required."

Panthers Lukas Dryml is confident Peterborough can get a result and said: "We can beat anyone providing we all ride well, we will be hungry and despite losing against Eastbourne our team spirit is very good, we don't need everyone to score 15 points but everyone needs to score solid points then you can win any meeting.  We must take each meeting one at a time and enjoy it, it must be fun."

Promoter Mick Bratley said: "I am sure we can not perform as poorly as we did against Eastbourne.  Last week on TV we looked an exceptional side against Swindon and I hope we can show the Speedway world that we can be just that when we all click together and hopefully send Poole back to Dorset without any league points.  It will be tough though, the Pirates are firm favourites for the title this year, but we are quite capable of beating them."

Stanair the meeting sponsors and Teng Tools, one of the clubs partners will be giving away goodies including caps and key rings to children attending this fixture.  We recommend you arrive early to take advantage of these offers.
