This Saturday 6th September, start time 7.15pm, the Weymouth Doonan Wildcats entertain Premier League side the Isle of Wight Islanders in an Inter League Challenge at the Wessex Stadium.  Last year a competitive meeting between the two teams was cut short by rain and the prospects for another night of thrilling racing once again looks in store for Weymouth fans. The Islanders field a strong side with club captain Jason Bunyan lining up at number one.  Wildcats Andrew Bargh will ride for the Premier League team alongside teenage Aussie hot shot – Richard Sweetman, whist Lee Smart makes his 2008 debut for the Wildcats.

Jem Dicken, Wildcats Team Manager, can’t wait to see how his side goes against the big boys, “Its going to be a test for the lads and I am looking forward to a close meeting.  It will be a great experience for some of the younger lads who have aspirations of making it into the Premier League to see how they fare alongside the likes of proven entertainers like Bunyan, Gathercole and Sweetman.”

Sunday sees the Wildcats hit the road as they head off to the wilds of Derbyshire to face the Buxton Hitmen in the Conference League.  A win would see the Wildcats at the top of the league table with three meetings yet to race, thereby placing themselves in a strong position for the play-offs.

Representing the Weymouth Wildcats in the Conference League Riders Championship at Rye House on the Saturday 27th of September will be Aussie sensation – Jay Herne and new kid on the block – Kyle Newman.  Phil Bartlett is delighted with the form of both riders and is impressed with the development of sixteen year old Kyle.  He commented “Jay has a real chance of landing the Championship and rode exceptionally well there last year and is really flying at the moment.  Kyle Newman has been awesome this year after a slow start marred by injury and he has been improving as the season has progresses.  He loves riding at Rye House and although it’s his first full season he won’t be there to merely make up the numbers and has earnt his place in the meeting which will be a valuable experience for the lad.”
