THE Buildbase Bees were again beaten by the weather when Thursday's match at Ipswich was washed out after less than half a lap of racing.
The meeting got underway on schedule despite a heavy downpour in the build-up, but an horrendous first-bend accident forced an immediate halt.
Ipswich's Piotr Swiderski hit the back of Bees No.1 Hans Andersen going into the bend and was sent at high speed into and through the safety fence, and onto the stock car track.
Andersen, who had made a good start along with guest Shane Parker, emerged unscathed from a fairly low-speed fall, but Swiderski was extremely fortunate to escape with just mild concussion.
The Pole would not have raced again in the meeting, but that became irrelevant when the heavens opened whilst the fence rebuilding was taking place and the meeting was abandoned before the re-run of Heat 1 could take place.
