Swindon Robins are the first visitors for what promises to be an action packed and hectic September program for the Showground, in a meeting sponsored by one of our Elite Sponsors Rent Direct.
Supporters will need no reminding that the Robins won the A fixture at Alwalton in June and as they currently occupy third place in the EL table, they remain committed to achieving a top two play place to give them the best possible chance in the play off's.
The Robins led by Leigh Adams and Mads Korneliussen will have Troy Batchelor back in the side for this fixture, he having missed the A match because of injury and have recently signed Croatian youngster Jurica Pavlic who fills one of the reserve berths.
Pavlic recently scored a full 21 point maximum on his first visit to the Arena Essex raceway and will be making his Showground debut on this occasion, how he takes to the pacy Alwalton raceway could have a major say in Swindon's chances on the night.
The side is completed by Travis McGowan, Manuel Hauzinger (provided he is fit to return) and James Wright, who on the last occasion played a major part in the Swindon success when scoring, paid 11 from the no 6 position.
Panthers meanwhile will have Captain Ryan Sullivan back at no 1 for his second match at Alwalton and with the issue of the new September green sheet averages, force the Panthers into line up changes.
Karol Zabik now has an interim average of 3.69 achieved through a combination of riding with Poole and Panthers, and this now means he drops to a reserve berth.
Because he is currently sidelined with an elbow injury he is unavailable for Mondays match and the no 8 Ty Proctor replaces him, Henning Bager moves up into the team to no 4 to partner Kenneth Bjerre.
Lukas Dryml, who would have scored double figures but for a puncture in his last match, Kenneth Bjerre and Danny King are all in good form at the moment so confidence is high, although team manager Trevor Swales is anticipating another hard match.
For added interest and in a build up to the forthcoming play off's the match is also to be featured live on Sky Sports.
Team Manager Trevor Swales said: "This will the first match since the takeover has been completed and its definitely boosted morale amongst everyone and the buzz around the place has spread to the team. They have a little more confidence and several members of the side have upped their game. Swindon have a good team and have done well this year and have a new lad Jurica Pavlic at reserve, if he takes to the Showground as well as he did at Lakeside, he could prove to be a bit of a handful. I am really looking forward to the match."
Panthers no 5 Danny King said: The confidence within the team is better now than it has been for a while and the team spirit has visibly increased and that's down to Rick taking over the club, I am sure that Ryan and Lukas will be looking to bounce back from last weeks match at Poole and I am sure they will, they both love the Showground. My own form has picked up considerably recently and it's definitely down to the fact that I am riding in Poland and Sweden regularly, I am now very busy and it's keeping me sharp, regular racing is keeping me race fit and I am enjoying it and I think my recent scores reflect that.
Owner Rick Frost said: "I am pleased the somewhat protracted negotiations to purchase the assets of Peterborough are now completed and I thank the management, riders and in particular our supporters for their patience during this difficult period. We can now move forward with confidence to better times ahead and put the past firmly behind us. The team spirits are running high again and those of you who saw our home meeting against Coventry will have felt how the atmosphere has changed at the Showground. Our riders are giving everything so please get behind them in what I am sure will be a tough match against our visitors, the Swindon Robins.
Promoter Mick Bratley said: "I am certainly hoping that we can win this meeting to give our new owner Rick Frost, the perfect start, as this will be the first meeting we have had with Rick officially the new club owner. We need the points to lift the side up the table and I am confident we have the power to overcome Swindon and put on a good show for the Sky TV cameras"
