Birmingham Speedway: New signings on the way

BIRMINGHAM are on the verge of signing a replacement for the injured Kyle Legault.

BRC Roofing Brummies boss Graham Drury confirmed the news during the 61-32 win over Mildenhall at Perry Barr on Wednesday.

He said: “We simply cannot continue covering for Kyle with the rider replacement facility and I believe we are within touching distance of making a new signing.

“I believe we are on course to make an announcement within the next 24-hours.”

Drury’s men were never troubled by the Premier League’s bottom club in a predictably one-sided affair.

Lee Smart made a successful return to his former track and was an impressive winner of Heat 8 as a tactical ride for double points. He timed his move to perfection to pass Jay Herne.

Smart lost his place at Perry Barr earlier this month but was head and shoulders above any of his Fen Tigers colleagues – he also received a good reception from Brummies fans.

And Barrie Evans was pushed hard by Brummies reserve James Cockle in an entertaining Heat 14.

Craig Watson and Tomasz Pisczcz had the final word for Birmingham in Heat 15 to complete their maximums and go through the 60-point barrier.

BIRMINGHAM: Craig Watson 17+1, Tomasz Piszcz 14+1, Jason Lyons 9, James Cockle 8+3, Jay Herne 7+1, Ben Taylor 5+3, Adam Lowe 1, Kyle Legault R/R.

MILDENHALL: Lee Smart 15, Sebastian Truminski 4+3, Barrie Evans 4, Casper Wortmann 3+1, Jan Graversen 3, Luke Priest 3, Paul Starke 0, Marek Miroz R/R.
