Belle Vue Speedway: Aces battle to avoid relegation zone.

Belle Vue start a crucial three-match climax to their home Elite League programme tomorrow battling to avoid a late drop into the relegation zone.

They face lowly Wolverhampton tomorrow, and again on September 8, with a match against fellow strugglers, Coventry, sandwiched between next Monday.

All three clubs are desperate to avoid finishing in the bottom two which would put them into the relegation play-off.

Aces team boss Chris Morton said: "All these matches are very important to all three clubs but we have to make sure we use our home advantage to win them all.

"Our riders are all aware of the situation and they are ready to deal with it. It's a crucial time for everyone.

"It was very frustrating for us to lose in the last heat at Wolverhampton on Monday because a win would have put space between us and the clubs beneath us.

"The situation now is that what happens over the relegation places is out of our hands but we must give ourselves the best chance of avoiding the play-off by winning these three home matches."

He added: "Everyone pulled together in what was a great team effort at Wolverhampton but again we just missed out on an away victory.

"We lost it early on because of we had motor problems and went ten points behind before staging a great recovery."

The One51 Aces were also hit by the loss of new signing, Stanislaw Burza, who suffered a back injury in his native Poland on Sunday and will be out for the rest of the season after making just one appearance for the club.

Morton said: "It's tough on Stan and us and just about sums up the bad luck we've had with injuries this season. This certainly hasn't helped but we have learned to deal with this kind of thing this season."

Glasgow's Robert Ksiezak, Belle Vue's No 8, will step into Burza's place at reserve alongside Billy Forsberg against Wolverhampton.

Children under 16 will be admitted free to the meeting if accompanied by an adult.

BELLE VUE: J Crump, L Jankowski (rider replacement), C Gjedde, P Hougaard, J Screen, R Ksiezak, B Forsberg.

Belle Vue's only remaining away match, at Lakeside, has been rearranged for September 10.

The annual end-of-season dinner dance will be held at Manchester City on Friday, October 17. Ticket arrangements will be announced shortly.
