Elite League Lakeside’s Leigh Lanham and Somerset’s Brent Werner are the latest riders to be confirmed for Chris Neath’s Testimonial Meeting at Rye House on Saturday, September 20th (7pm).
Says Chris of the Hammers’ star, “I’ve known Leigh for the long time now. I don’t remember if he remembers me, but I remember him at junior grass-tracking. He was a lot older than me when I first started – he still is now! – and I recall him racing against Scotty Nicholls and those guys at junior grass-track. He’s been riding locally around Lakeside for a long time now, so he’s also a former team mate from my time as No.8 there last year. He usually enjoys his trips to Rye House as well, so he should go well.”
As for the “American Express”, “Brent rode alongside me as a Rocket for four years, and he was captain when we won the championship in 2005. He’s also a good friend of mine – at least he was until he scored the points that helped put us out of the Knock-Out Cup! – and he only lives five minutes down the road from me. I’m really pleased that he’s going to come down and have a skid on September 20th.”
Lanham and Werner join a field a rider field that already includes Grand Prix stars Niels Kristian Iversen and Freddie Lindgren, David Howe, Chris Holder, Steve Johnston and a Rockets crew of Tai Woffinden, Stefan Ekberg, Tommy Allen and Chris himself. The meeting reserves are Rye’s Robert Mear and Luke Bowen.
