Local league racing returned to Edinburgh on Sunday 24th Aug with the first fixtures in the 2008 Edinburgh Fours.
Two fours matches were run concurrently over 12 heats each, with the home team Redbraes matched with Glasgow whilst Portobello took on Lothian.
In the first match the home team took the lead from the 2nd heat and although the scores remained tight they hung on to a 63 points to 56 victory over Glasgow. The second match followed a similar fashion with Lothian taking the lead from the 1st heat to eventually run out winners by 62.5 points to 57.5.
Top Riders for each team: Redbraes, Jake Slight: Glasgow, Craig Newsome: Portobello, Alan Smith: Lothian, Mikey Hewitson.
A total of 18 Riders took part on the day and this is an encouraging sign for Cycle Speedway in Edinburgh.
This coming weekend (31st Aug) the Edinburgh Falcons travel to Bury and Astley & Tyldesley for a double header of Northern League fixtures. A win at both venues is a definite possibility.
Next fixtures at Redbraes – Sun 7th Sep, Round 2 of the Edinburgh Fours.
