RORY Schlein makes a rapid return to Coventry as play-off chasing Ipswich visit on Bank Holiday Monday afternoon (4.30pm).
Schlein was released from the Buildbase Bees team last month to make way for the incoming Hans Andersen, and was immediately signed by the Witches to replace the injured Chris Louis.
He makes up part of a strong Ipswich team who also include 2007 Coventry title-winner Steve Johnston at reserve - an area where the Bees line-up is still subject to confirmation.
It has been confirmed that Robbie Kessler suffered no broken bones in Friday's horrific accident which resulted in a broken collarbone for Simon Stead when the British rider's engine failed and he was unavoidably hit by his team-mate.
Kessler, however, is still a doubt due to hand and arm injuries and the timing of the meeting, which was brought forward for television coverage, means that Bees would only be able to call-up flying No.8 Ben Barker if Stoke's 2pm match at Rye House is postponed, as Barker's Premier League commitments take priority.
Bees had looked at the possibility of bringing Barker to Brandon by helicopter if he could arrive in time to ride, but the logistics did not work out.
Manager Peter Oakes explained: "We were told by the helicopter company that it would be a 55 minute flight to Coventry, and there would then be 15 minutes either way to get to and from the stadiums.
"It meant that even if Rye House ran absolutely to time with no stoppages, the earliest we could possibly have Ben here by would be probably 5pm, and that just wouldn't work out."
With Kessler's participation uncertain, Bees have therefore called-up their own asset Josh Auty to take a place in the line-up - either at reserve is Kessler is ruled out, or as No.8, as they will be using rider replacement for Stead.
Olly Allen, Billy Janniro and the reserves can take the rider replacement rides - although Stead does move up to third in the averages next month - and Bees have switched the in-form Allen to No.5 with the rider replacement effectively partnering Hans Andersen at No.2
Stead is hopeful of returning within around a fortnight, but although Bees have no further fixtures this week he is likely to have to sit out a busy first week of September.
