It took Ricky Wells a while to get his first main event win at Industry Speedway. But since he learned the way to the winner’s circle, the teenager from Yorba Linda has been a regular visitor.

Wells, 17, was there again Wednesday night, taking the lead from Charlie Venegas at the start of the 4-lap feature and then looking back only to make sure none of his competitors were getting close.

The win was Wells’ fourth in a row and fifth in six races at The Grand arena in the Industry Hills Expo Center.

Venegas, a San Bernardino resident who opened the season with eight wins in nine races, took second this time, with First Division points leader Shawn McConnell of Brea third, Neil Facchini of Riverside fourth and Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa fifth.

Dave Alexander of Thousand Oaks and Matt Davis of Riverside teamed up to win the Sidecar feature. Allen Doss (Division 2) of Riverside, Tim McGrath (Division 3) of San Gabriel, Austin Novratil (Youth Under 16) of Huntington Beach, Samuel Ramirez (Youth Under 12) of Orange and Nicky Reimer (PeeWee) of Seal Beach were the other main event winners.

Reimer, 9, who also was second to Samuel Ramirez in their Under 12 heat, was using the races as a tune-up for next week’s Battle of the Ages match race against 76-year-old Division 3 favorite Hugh Randolph, of Costa Mesa.
