This event (16 August 2008) at Action Park finally ran under nice weather conditions with no rain for the first time in the last 4 races at the facility. The track was nice and smooth and produced a nice show.

The handicap heat races began with Casey Donholt coming all the way from the 60 yard marker to pass the field in 6 laps for the win. Close to him in runner up position was young Jesse Diem who turned in his smoothest ride of the year. Third place went to Dee Holden, fourth was Shawn "Steamboat" Engel and last was Tuff McBride who lost a chain. Warren Diem was back in fine form in the other heat and made several nice passes from the 50 yard line to win. Josh Carr was next in line just ahead of third placed Corey Brookes.  Adam Mittl  was fourth and Lenny McBride was last with a  failing motorcycle.

Warren Diem, winner of 6 State Championships, was again on fire in the handicap semis. In the first semi he came from near the back again to weave through several riders and take the checkered flag. Corey Brookes did a fine job on his 250cc JAWA to take second and a transfer to the feature. Donholt was third and also transferred. Just shy was Mittl who got fourth and Holden was fifth. Tuff McBride got his chain to stay on in the other semi and rode very well to take the fist place just ahead of his brother, Lenny, who was second from the 60 yard handicap. Jesse Diem was again strong and gained a transfer with his third place. Carr got fourth and Engel lost steam at the back.

Mittl gated superbly in the first scratch heat and won over Donholt. Brookes was third with Lenny McBride fourth and Holden fifth. Warren Diem remained unbeaten when he headed home Tuff McBride in their heat race. The two were neck and neck. Carr was third with Jesse Diem fourth and Engel fifth.

Warren Diem was again the man to beat as he was first in his scratch semi, outdistancing Donholt and Mittl. Jesse Diem was fourth. Tuff McBride was top dog in the other semi with Lenny taking second after moving up the inside of Carr on lap two. Carr was third with Brookes fourth.

Mittl ran away with the last chance but young Brookes made the show when he made an nice inside pass on Jesse Diem to take second. Carr was fourth.

On the first start of the scratch main McBride and Mittl both went down. A full restart was re-ordered and although it appeared several riders got rollers, the race continued.  Donholt got the jump off the gate and never had to look back as he rode away to the win on his Holden's racing JAWA. Tuff McBride was second with Diem in third and Lenny McBride fourth. Mittl took fifth.

The handicap main was an exciting event. Warren Diem got a good leap off the line from the 50 and had already passed a couple riders by the first corner. One rider he had not yet passed though was Brookes, who had won two handicap mains in a row heading into this one. Brookes rode well forabout 3 laps before giving way to the pressure of the veteran Diem. Diem sped away for his first main event victory in nearly five years with Tuff McBride just behind him for second. Donholt worked his way into third by the finish with Lenny McBride getting by Brookes for fourth. Jesse Diem was sixth.
