Glasgow Speedway: Parker back to add teeth to Tigers

One of the Premier League's leading stars Shane Parker has returned to the Glasgow Tigers line-up in time for Thursday evening's Premier League visit to the South Tees Motorsport Park, South Bank, Middlesbrough to take on the Redcar Bears from 7.30pm.

Australian Parker was a Middlesbrough Bear riding out of the defunct Cleveland Park circuit in the 1990s and is well respected by fans and racing rivals alike. He has been suffering from the complications of pneumonia in recent months but has been declared fit by his doctors and brings a strong points-scoring spearhead to a young team dominated by young fellow Australians. There will also be some friendly rivalry for Shane and Robert Ksiezak on track with the Bears number seven Arlo Bugeja as all hail from Adelaide. The same is true for the Tigers reserves Mitchell Davey and Josh Grajconek from Queensland  who arrived on these shores with Bears sensation Tyrone Proctor at the beginning of this season for their respective debuts in British Speedway. All the Aussie boys may be pals back home but their races are very competitive to say the least! Tigers skipper Trent Leverington from Brisbane is the other compatriot involved and is preceded by his reputation at the Motorpark as a battler who has been involved in
one or two brushes with Bears' riders in previous seasons.

The Bears were rampant against the Newcastle Diamonds last Thursday and hammered them by 59 points to 33 with Ty Proctor returning a five ride - five win 15 point maximum. As such the 21-year-old Bears' discovery has put himself in contention for a Team GB v Australia test series in September.

It has been confirmed that the Redcar Speedway Club End-of-Season  Presentations will be held at the Marton Hotel and Country Club, Stokesley Road, Marton, Middlesbrough on the evening of Saturday October 25th at 7pm for 7.30. The highlight of several awards will be the presentation of the 2008 'Bear of the Year' title which is voted for by fans. It was won in 2006 by Daniel Giffard and in 2007 by James Grieves.

There will further details on Thursday evening in the matchday programme and over the PA with the opportunity for fans to reserve their tickets for the big night.
